Revel unveils monthly e-bike service in NYC

Beginning today, New Yorkers can join the waitlist for moped sharing company Revel’s new monthly e-bike service.
Coast by Revel is the company’s third product since launching its service in 2018. It will cost $99 a month.
Last summer, Revel shut down in New York City after two fatal crashes in a matter of weeks. One of the victims was former News 12 reporter Nina Kapur
The service relaunched in August under strict safety protocols.
The Department of Transportation says there was a growing concern regarding safety last summer. The Brooklyn-based company, which had 3,000 mopeds available for use in New York City, also had 330 crashes recorded within the first seven months of 2020.
Revel says it voluntarily shut down operations on July 28 and reopened a month later with enhanced safety requirements, including a mandatory selfie submission to ensure riders and passengers were wearing helmets.
