Residents ringing in the new year at outdoor celebrations faced bitterly cold temperatures Sunday.
New York City was expected to have its coldest New Year's Eve in over 55 years, but it didn’t deter the thousands who were heading out in the sub-freezing weather.
Some were planning to just brave the cold in order to get to their destinations, while others were headed to outdoor celebrations like the Times Square ball drop.
Temperatures around 10 degrees were expected for around midnight, and brutally cold conditions are expected to continue into New Year’s Day.
