Mayor Eric Adams and other city officials announced the “Ride Inside, Stay Alive” campaign to combat subway surfing in New York City.
The mayor says the campaign was actually created by students after five New Yorkers were killed in 2022.
Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials also worked with tech companies to take down the near 2,600 videos and pictures that promote subway surfing around the city.
NYC Schools Chancellor David Banks said most of the kids involved in this trend are just 11, 12 and 13 years old.
