The Avenue N and McDonald Avenue intersection in Midwood sees a lot of traffic daily, but residents nearby told News 12 there's been several car accidents.
Last October, two MTA buses crashed into each other, injuring four people.
"That big accident with the car came speeding across all the cars over here and it hit the bus, my car was here actually and saved our life," said Jack, a business owner near that intersection.
Jack isn't the only person in that neighborhood who shared thoughts on what could be the reason behind the crashes.
"It's because its a five-way, and it's because all the lights are in... the middle of the intersection and they're probably not pointing in the right direction for the cars, that's my best guest why there's accidents here," said Eureka.
According to Vision Zero, as of July 31, there’s been no fatalities.
Transportation Alternatives told News 12 it believes that intersection is confusing for pedestrians, drivers and bikers.
"The design could be simplified so that it serves all road users. We call on the city and DOT to design streets primarily for safety first," said Kathy Park Price,
Brooklyn organizer for Transportation Alternatives.
People in the community told News 12 they love their neighborhood and they’re looking forward to safety improvements for drivers and pedestrians.
