Former Councilman Charles Barron and a Brownsville family are meeting with the Brooklyn District Attorney about prosecuting the officers involved in an alleged chokehold incident over the weekend.
As News 12 has reported, Rosan and Moses Miller claim police told them Saturday evening that it was illegal to grill on a public sidewalk. When they asked why, they say the officers then jumped through the gate of their home and attacked the husband, his brother and put a seven-month pregnant woman in a chokehold.
The Brownsville family claims they were unfairly targeted and say they want justice.
In a video released by Barron, Rosan Miller is in front of her home telling an officer she is pregnant. Moments later there is a confrontation between Miller and the officer before the video cuts off.
The couple was arrested and charged with obstructing government business and disorderly conduct.
The latest alleged incident comes on the heels of a string of reported chokeholds by police. Barron asked the District Attorney to drop the charges and instead prosecute the officers he claims are responsible for the incident.
The family says it's important to take their claim seriously and prosecute those responsible.
