Employees at Goals Plastic Surgery in Bedford Park are hoping police can identify and arrest the people responsible for a burglary last month that resulted in the theft of a safe that contained $85,000.
Police say it happened around 3:30 a.m. on May 31 at the business located at 74 East 205th St.
A hole in the wall where the safe was once stored remains visible inside the business nearly two weeks later.
"It was just so scary," said Kayy Fernandez, social media manager for Goals Plastic Surgery.
According to police, several people broke into the business and stole the safe. Investigators released surveillance images and video of individuals they believe were involved in the burglary.
Fernandez said she was stunned when she learned about the crime.
"When I first heard the news, I was like stuck at first, like who could do something like this," she said.
Employees believe the people responsible had inside knowledge of the business, including the location of the safe and how to access the room where it was stored.
"I just know that whoever did this obviously knew more than just a customer because we have a safe on the second floor everything is very secured," Fernandez said.
Community members said they sympathize with the business and hope those responsible are found.
"People should watch their back at all times and to look at your surroundings 24/7 because you can’t trust nobody in the world nowadays," said Bedford Park resident Johnny Ruiz.
Ruiz said he feels for the owner and wants to see the money recovered.
"I feel bad for the storeowner because they don’t deserve that kind of treatment...the people responsible should return the money as soon as possible," he said.
Ruiz shared an additional message for those responsible if they don't.
"You will get arrested and they will find you," he said.
