The Western Narrows section of the Sound by the Bronx received another "F" in the Save the Sound biannual report card.
The community does not drink the water, but the bay water quality impacts the marine environment, aquatic life and recreational activities for the community.
The report looks at water monitoring data collected throughout the year.
Save the Sound then makes sure it gets to local elected officials, environmental agencies and the public - hoping to promote future projects to improve the water quality.
Save the Sound says some easy things the community can do to help improve water quality off local beaches is avoid littering, eliminate or reduce fertilizer use and cut down on the amount of water used in general.
