The Bed-Stuy Gateway Business Improvement District kicked off Small Business Saturday with an art-involved scavenger hunt.

Twenty-two businesses along Fulton Street were involved. Shoppers were encouraged to visit each store and collect a card. Those cards were then entered into a raffle where the winners went home with Bose speakers.

“We’re bringing foot traffic to the businesses," said Dale Charles, executive director of the Bed-Stuy Gateway BID. “This is a day we shop local, we shop small, we shop on Fulton Street."

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce says there are 70,000 small businesses in the borough. However, many business owners told News 12 that they continue to struggle.

“Along with taxes and now tariffs – it really is a struggle, so we’re just hoping there are some changes ahead," said Monique Nicholas, owner of Nicholas Brooklyn.

Shoppers will have two more chances to win on Saturday, Dec. 6 and Saturday Dec. 13.
