P.S. 253 was one of four winners out of 65 schools from across the country that competed for the $10,000 prize.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children asked elementary schools to create a video based off the 1980s song "The Safety Dance" with different lyrics to teach children how to be safe when dealing with strangers or uncomfortable situations.
Students say it's exciting to teach other children in their community how to be smart when it comes to safety.
School officials say they are still figuring out how to put the money to the best use, but that it will likely go back into the performing arts program.
