Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is making online privacy a top priority following reports that some employers are asking job applicants for their Facebook passwords.

Schumer is one of two senators calling on U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, the Department of Justice and the U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission to investigate. They argue that Facebook pages contain information protected by federal employment law, including gender, race and religion.

Privacy advocates have also raised red flags at the idea, and Facebook has put out its own warning to employers, stating that it violates a long-standing policy against sharing passwords.
