Security boosted at NYC synagogues after French shooting
The NYPD bolstered security at synagogues and other religious institutions around the city today, following a deadly shooting at a Jewish school in France. French authorities say a man on a motorbike shot up a school in the city of Toulouse. The shooting killed a rabbi, his two young sons and a 7-year-old girl. NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly says although there weren't any specific threats against the city, the department is taking precautions. New York has the largest Jewish population in the world outside of Israel. The suspect in the French shooting remains at large. Authorities say the same type of weapon was recently used in two similar shootings in southwestern France. AP wire services contributed to this report.
