State Senator Carl Kruger is calling for an environmental assessment of the Coney Island development plans.
The state environmental quality review (SEQR) would be conducted at Parkland before a renovation of the amusement area begins.
The SEQR would help the city assess environmental impacts on the development of the Parkland area of Coney Island. It would also help curb future problems in developing the site, such as air, water and land pollution.
Sen. Kruger said if the review doesn't take place, he's ready to go to court.
?Come prepared to answer why you [the city] have not applied for a state environmental review,? said Kruger.
A spokesperson for the Coney Island Development Corporation said the city will comply with all mandated reviews and approval processes when moving forward with the project.
