A man who was found guilty of attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old Brooklyn girl in 2007 appealed his sentencing Tuesday, delaying his fate.

Authorities say Bernard Mutterperl, now 21, faces between three and a half to 15 years in prison for attempting to kidnap Xochil Garcia, now 13, from her Ocean Avenue apartment building. Garcia told News 12 Brooklyn after the alleged attack she was able to run away from Mutterperl when he loosened his grip on her wrists.

Mutterperl was found guilty of several other charges. He will be sentenced Aug. 26.
