Shootings, murder rate fell in the Bronx in 2023, NYPD data shows

There was a 22% decrease in Bronx shootings last year compared to 2022, according to data released by the NYPD.

There were 313 shootings in the Bronx last year, while 402 occurred in 2022.

The NYPD also reports an over 6% drop in murders throughout the Bronx.

This comes after two men had to be hospitalized due to a double shooting in Fordham.

Despite the improved statistics, some residents say they feel more unsafe than ever. News 12’s Samantha Chaney spoke to residents in Fordham about their concerns.
