Less than a week after a Bronx woman was brutally murdered and dismembered, the victim?s sister lashed out at police.
The remains of 28-year-old Jaritza Calderon were discovered Monday in Teaneck, NJ, after she was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend, 32-year-old Julio Flores.
?I want the cops to pay too because they were negligent,? says the victim?s sister, Angela Ramons. ?If they did what they were supposed to do then Jari would still be here.?
Ramons says Flores forced her dying sister to call her so she could hear Calderon's last breath over the phone. After receiving the disturbing call, Ramons notified the police that her sister may be in danger.
According to investigators, Flores admitted to murdering Calderon and burying her dismembered body at a construction site in Teaneck where he was working at the time. A neighbor led authorities to Flores after claiming to see his car parked outside the house. Teaneck police checked his license plate and found out the NYPD had issued an alert for it.
Officers say they found Flores in the basement, smeared with concrete, and took him into custody. They later discovered Calderon?s remains entombed in concrete-filled plastic buckets at the residence.
Flores was arraigned in New Jersey earlier this week and charged with burglary, hindering apprehension and desecrating a body. He is expected to return to New York to face additional charges, including murder.
According to Ramons, Flores and Calderon were together for a year and a half, but their relationship was stormy and abusive. She says her sister left Flores shortly before her death. On the day of the murder, Calderon apparently stopped by Flores? house on Gun Hill Road to pick up a TV cable box and give him a birthday card.
