Sliwa's tour of South Bronx draws ire
An "underbelly tour" of the South Bronx being led by Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa is being criticized by people who say it perpetuates negative stereotypes.
Sliwa has described the tour as a mix of traveling down the South Bronx's dark past - by uncovering graffiti murals honoring criminals and highlighting former drug hangouts - while also acknowledging how things have vastly improved.
But groups such as Mothers on the Move say it's more important to help empower the community by looking to the future instead of dwelling on the past.
