Several Bronx business owners say the city's plan to keep all sugary drink sales small will only translate into small profits.
Councilman Fernando Cabrera (D-The Bronx) and a member of New Yorkers for Beverage Choices went on a neighborhood walking tour Thursday to discuss Mayor Michael Bloomberg's push to stop the sale of beverages larger than 16 ounces.
Cabrera argues that research shows the ban would do nothing to curb obesity. He says many restaurant owners told him that they're worried because 85 percent of their sales come from beverages.
The Department of Health is holding a public hearing on the proposal next Tuesday.
