Friends and family said their final farewells Tuesday to a soldier from East New York who was killed by a roadside bomb in Baghdad.
A wake and funeral service was held at New Jerusalem Church in Springfield Gardens, Queens for 21-year-old Army Sgt. Kimel Watt. The military said a bomb exploded near Watt's vehicle in Baghdad June 3.
Relatives said Watt's tour of duty had been extended six months at the time of his death.
Mourners remembered the Jamaican immigrant as a patriotic young man who planned to attend college after his time in Iraq.
