The Masbia Soup Kitchen in Borough Park is teaming up with DoorDash to deliver free groceries to families in need.
The soup kitchen hands out over 500 meals per day, and Alexander Rapaport, executive director of Masbia Soup Kitchen, is excited about this new partnership and how it’ll help amid inflation price jumps.
“Your organic strawberries didn’t see 500% increase in price, but eggs in your supermarket did since the pandemic,” says Rapaport. “We like to tell our donors we take their dollars, and we stretch it.”
Rapaport says the collaboration with DoorDash is great for the community but hasn’t been easy. He says they monitor every single delivery to make sure they’re given to the right families.
Masbia Soup Kitchen also serves hot meals daily for dinner and delivers groceries five days a week thanks to this new program.
