This week marks EMS Week at St. Barnabas Hospital, and this year, hospital staff honored a special EMT that lost her life in the line of duty.
The hospital honored NYPD EMT Yadira Arroyo who lost her life on the job just over two months ago.
A permanent plaque was placed in the emergency room at St. Barnabas where Arroyo worked, honoring her legacy and sacrifice.
Many of the people who attended the dedication Friday talked about her bubbly personality and her strong dedication and work ethic, saying they truly miss her and will always have her in their memory.
Several members of St. Barnabas' EMS were in attendance Friday receiving various service awards.
Organizers say they hope the event shows how much they not only miss Arroyo's sacrifice, but the sacrifice of all EMS workers.
