The pandemic hasn't stopped the students at St. Raymond's High School for Boys from giving back and continuing the school's Christian service program.
Since September, the school has had five service trips to help clean Pelham Bay Park, Van Cortlandt Park and Orchard Beach.
The school donated 1,500 cans of food to the Mercy Center in the Bronx on Monday for Thanksgiving.
St. Raymond's High School is operating on a hybrid learning model this year, with students alternating in-person and remote learning.
While students couldn't go to retirement homes and food pantries like normal, they still found ways to safely serve the community.
Students maintain social distancing and wear masks outdoors while doing service. They are also virtually tutoring elementary school students in the Bronx.
The school's next service project will be the Christmas toy drive. Students will bring in brand-new toys that will be disinfected and distributed to local charities.
