Two women are expected to be OK after a pair of separate lifesaving rescues by Stamford's firefighters.

Fire officials say the 28-year-old woman who was pinned underneath the CTtransit bus Tuesday is OK and was released from the hospital later in the day.

Video shows dozens of firefighters swarming that bus after they received numerous 911 calls about a woman struck by the bus while crossing the street and stuck underneath.

Fire officials say they responded to the scene in two minutes and were able to get the woman out in less than 10 minutes.

"Having a pedestrian vs. vehicle incident in Downtown Stamford is not that uncommon, being under a bus in a position like that would be a very low frequency event, but a very high-risk for us and normally we would expect the injuries to be severe in this case. Her injuries, although minor, were not to the magnitude you would normally expect," said Deputy Fire Chief Matt Palmer.

Police say the driver of the bus will be issued a ticket for failing to give the right of way to a pedestrian. The driver told police he started to turn and by the time he saw the pedestrian, he tried to stop but it was too late.

That was not the only rescue Stamford Fire made Tuesday. The same crew rescued another woman who fell in between the platform and train at the Springdale Train Station.
