Officials met at the Government Center to discuss the Safer Communities Act.

The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was recently passed by Congress and aims to combat gun violence across the country.
The bill will improve access to mental health care and help equip schools with the resources necessary for safety.
Ahead of the school year in Stamford, police held a series of forums on how to reduce the risk of school violence including an active shooter situation.
Members of the mayor's office, school staff and parents were invited to attend.
