The organization Stand Up to Violence held a rally against gun violence Tuesday evening on Allerton Avenue.
Stand Up to Violence, or SUV, visits neighborhoods after a shooting takes place to protest violence. A 40-year-old man was shot in the knee on Allerton Avenue this past Friday.
Members of the group say they visit neighborhoods in the wake of shootings to bring awareness to what is happening in the city and to change attitudes.
The mother of the man shot last week attended the rally and says she is happy to see the community standing up against violence. She says her son is doing much better.
