A state Department of Motor Vehicles office is preparing to roll out a modernized technology system aimed at improving customer service.

All DMV offices will close for business at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, and online transactions and phone services will not be available during that time.

The shutdown is planned to allow the launch of the updated system.

The modernized technology will allow employees to process transactions on one secure platform instead of moving between older systems.

Officials say it will also improve online transactions for customers.
