Students unloaded boxes full of fresh produce and packed them up to give those who need it most in the community.
The effort was all part of a student community engagement requirement called Project IMPACT. It stands for Individuals Making Progress Across Communities Together.
Working as a team, the teens unloaded boxes of potatoes, apples, mangos and other fresh produce and packaged them for the community.
This was the first food drive held by the Office of Equity and Access Student Support Service.
With the holiday season in full swing as COVID-19 cases rising, the giveaway was important not only for the community members who received the food, but also for the students who helped out.
Organizers stressed the giveaway was a crucial way to teach students about engagement and advocacy throughout the community.
