Brooklyn residents affected by a tornado that tore through the borough in August voiced their concerns Tuesday at a meeting in Bay Ridge.
State Sen. Martin Golden hosted the event at the Bay Ridge Community Service Center, located at 6935 Fourth Ave. Golden says the meeting is meant to provide information to those who are experiencing ongoing problems returning to their homes.
Representatives from the Red Cross, the mayor's office and the Department of Buildings were on hand to answer questions.
Chinese and Arabic translators were present.
FEMA recently opened an assistance center in the area after deeming the region eligible for federal disaster assistance. The tornado was the first to hit the area in more than a century. Officials estimate the damage is close to $500,000.
