A statue honoring the work of a legendary Brooklyn author and illustrator became a landmark Friday in Prospect Park.
The bronze statue of Ezra Jack Keats' characters Peter and his dog Willie at the Imagination Playground has been declared a literary landmark by the New York City Parks Department.
Keats passed away in 1983, and a celebration was held honoring his 100th birthday. Students were treated to a reading of a few of Keats' most famous books.
The celebration concludes today with a concert at 4 p.m. in Prospect Park.
