The stepfather and mother of 7-year-old Nixzmary Brown were indicted Tuesday on second-degree murder charges in connection with her death.

Nixzmary was found beaten to death in her Bed-Stuy apartment almost a week ago. Her stepfather, Cesar Rodriguez, is accused of binding, beating and molesting her. He is also charged with sex abuse and child endangerment. Nixzmary's mother, Nixzaliz Santiago is also charged with child endangerment. Both have pleaded not guilty. Santiago spoke out from jail and said that she did nothing to stop the abuse because she feared for her own life.

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes said the allegations against the two, if true, are the most gruesome he has ever encountered. An autopsy performed on Nixzmary showed that she died from a blow to the head.

Meanwhile, hundreds continue to pay their respects to the little girl at Ortiz Funeral Home. Nixzmary will be laid to rest on Wednesday.
