Some Brooklyn residents spent Thursday dealing with explosive consequences of a nor'easter that tore through the area.
Firefighters say salt and water used to keep streets clear seeped into sewers in East New York. That caused wires to be damaged, resulting in the explosion of three manholes on Sutter Avenue. Witnesses say the blast was so strong, windows were blown out at one house.
Meanwhile, in Sheepshead Bay, drivers shoveled their cars free from freezing snow. Residents are urged to also shovel their sidewalks or face fines of more than $100 from the Department of Sanitation.Related Information:
