Severe weather is creating travel headaches for airline passengers at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Storms across the Midwest on Monday led to widespread flight disruptions, and the effects are now being felt in the Northeast.

According to FlightAware, more than 400 flights have already been delayed or canceled today, with many of those cancellations linked to weather problems in the Midwest.

Forecasters say additional storms are expected to move into the Northeast through today and tomorrow.

That could lead to even more delays and cancellations for travelers flying in and out of the region.

Passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines before heading to the airport and allow extra time for travel.

The situation remains fluid as airlines and airports monitor the changing weather conditions.
