A nonprofit is helping those dealing with HIV and AIDS, chronic health conditions, homelessness or substance abuse have a home for the holidays.
The Alliance for Positive Change launched the Positive Home for the Holidays campaign, where residents receive a home starter kit that includes items like plates, shower curtains and linens.
Yolanda Mitchell, a Bed-Stuy resident, received a kit from the Alliance for Positive Change and says it has given her a sense of pride as she starts over in life.
Mitchell works as a security guard at the Alliance for Positive Change and goes to meetings there.
The nonprofit says their goal is to raise $5,000 to create even more starter kits.
