Northport native Edie Falco talks about her new police drama, 'Tommy'

Long Island native Edie Falco is starring in a new police drama called "Tommy," in which she plays the title role.
She grew up in Northport and went on to star in shows like "The Sopranos" and "Nurse Jackie."
Falco plays the first female chief of police in Los Angeles. The character is also a native New Yorker.
Falco told News 12's Elisa DiStefano she felt now was the time go back to doing a television series.
"I never know what's going to come next, I'm always looking for good writing, good scripts, good directors, it's always the same criteria and it just so happens this is a series and it was writing I liked, so here we are," says Falco.
Falco says she still spends a lot of time in Northport with her family.
"Tommy" will premiere tonight at 10 p.m. on CBS.
