Hundreds of children marched down Graham Avenue for the annual trick-or-treat parade Friday.
About 700 students and teachers from P.S. 257 attended the mini-parade, which extended around nearby blocks.
The school's marching band teacher says she started the parade about 15 years ago so children could have a memorable Halloween experience.
Organizers say parents of children who live in public housing are apprehensive about sending them to go trick-or-treating. They say the parade is a safe alternative.
Party Glitter, a local store near the school, donates costumes to children in need. The store's owner also gives candy to everyone in the area.
The party continued at the school following the parade, with lots of music and dancing.
