Students across the borough and state began three days of state math tests, but many are sitting out. 

As News 12 reported Tuesday, parents, students and teachers rallied in Prospect Park against the Common Core exams. They call them a flawed set of learning standards that are unfair to both kids and their teachers. 

The group says that last week, about 200,000 students boycotted the standardized English assessments statewide, and they're expecting even more to opt out of this round. 

The Common Core tests don't count toward students' grades, but they are factored into teacher evaluations. Students have complained that they're being overly tested, while teachers say it prevents them from being creative in the classroom and is a poor reflection of their skills.
