Dozens of medical students are showing their solidarity following recent police-involved deaths.
Future doctors studying at SUNY Downstate Medical Center staged a "die-in" Wednesday morning, laying down on the floor outside of their auditorium for 45 minutes.
After recent violent events between police and the communities they serve, the protesters say they want to spread the message that black lives matter here in New York, in Missouri, and throughout the world.
The medical students say they also want to demonstrate that their student community views all racial violence as a public health crisis.
Thousands of medical students across the country are participating in "die-ins" at their schools, including several schools in New York.
