As temperatures climbed across New York City, subway riders found different ways to stay cool during their daily commute. News 12 spoke with commuters who said the heat has been hard to ignore, especially while traveling on packed trains.

Many riders were seen carrying portable fans, cold water and even stopping for ice cream to beat the heat. Some also took a few moments to sit outside stations and cool down before continuing to their next stop.

Jaydon, a student, said the heat has been intense, recalling a recent trip to school where his shirt was "completely soaked." His advice to fellow New Yorkers: dress smart by wearing tank tops or short sleeves. Another rider, Dulce, said she turns to ice cream to help her cool off during her commute.

Other commuters emphasized the importance of staying hydrated, while some noted that despite the high temperatures, they still must get to work, attend appointments and go about their daily routines. Overall, riders told News 12 they have found their own ways to stay comfortable while navigating the city's summer heat.
