Suffolk police say the body of a man was found Tuesday morning on the beach with stab wounds in Blue Point.
Police say someone walking by found the body around 6:30 a.m. on the beach at the end of Blue Point Avenue.
They say 27-year-old Carlos Lopez, of Central Islip, was found with multiple stab wounds.
Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.
News 12 spoke with people who come to the beach often and those who live near it. They say they’re shocked to hear a murder victim was found here. Some say they do see activity in the parking lot by the fishing pier at night.
“They leave this open at night, it should be closed because a lot goes on down here, I think... after hours it’s kind of remote," said Mary Bruballa, of Blue Point.
“When people take walks and runs, everyone knows each other. It’s pretty shocking … I come here sometimes at 5 in the morning and there’s already cars in here, waiting for sunrise, ya know, but I never see any trouble,” said Todd Oconnell, who lives nearby.
Police have not said if they made any arrests. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
