Suffolk County, state and federal authorities announced "Operation Safe and Lasting Return," on Thursday.
As News 12 first reported, the program will create a new system of sharing information about missing or trafficked children and provide resources for affected families.
The issue became more prevalent after 14-year-old from Patchogue was recently missing for weeks.
A total of 11 people are facing charges in connection to the case.
The initiative will also create a new system of information sharing between agencies.
It will also provide mental health services for victims and their families after a child returns home safely.
