Suffolk parents contacted News 12 with concerns after Suffolk police were on scene at Tutor Time Child Care and Learning Center in Lindenhurst Friday.

Parents say police arrived on scene around 3:30 p.m. and remained on scene throughout the evening as parents arrived to pick up their children.

Samuriai Feliciano, of Lindenhurst, said he was worried when he arrived and saw police on scene.

"I asked what's going on because I mean, my kid is there. So I was worried,” he said. "I saw a cop talking with the reception. And there were like four employees there."

Suffolk police tell News 12 police are investigating a complaint at Tutor Time.

News 12 crews saw a Suffolk County vehicle parked outside the day care as well.

A current and former worker of Tutor Time spoke with News 12 saying they saw a staff member get too physical with children there for months.

The workers asked to conceal their identities and refer to them as Ydalia and Emma.

"I've never dealt with this type of neglect and child abuse that I've witnessed,” said Ydalia. "She's rough with the children. She screams at the children. She gets handsy with the children."

Employees say they and others have reported these incidents to managers, but say no action has been taken.

"I've seen a lot of arm pulling, tugging,” said Emma. "It's heartbreaking to me because it's like, no kid should have ever went through something like that. They don't even know what's going on."

When News 12 went inside Tutor Time to get answers, staff directed us to a number for their communications team.

Parents say they just want transparent answers about what’s going on.

"At least I want to know what's happening," said Feliciano.

The number for the Tutor Time communications team kept ringing when News 12 tried calling them for a comment.

News 12 also called and emailed the Lindenhurst location directly for a response, but the location has not returned our request for comment.

Suffolk County says, “The county cannot comment on a criminal investigation.”
