The first batch of monkeypox vaccines in Suffolk County went into residents' arms on Fire Island Friday.

A pop-clinic in Cherry Grove rolled out some of the initial 750 doses sent to the county by New York state.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone says the county received an additional 1,750 vials to be administered next week at two sites on the mainland.

As of Friday, there were four cases of monkeypox in Suffolk County and three in Nassau County.

Those who were able to be vaccinated say they are happy to be among the lucky few but hope others will be able to get the vaccine soon.

"We're so grateful we were able to get the vaccine," says Julian Dorcelien, of Cherry Grove. "We would like to see everybody get it and protect themselves."

Nassau County has received 1,240 from New York, which will be given next week.
