Julia's Joseph is joining us and Julia, you said earlier you would be trying the hungry man special by the look of your plate. I think that's what you got in front of you, right? Yeah. How'd you guys know? I mean, come on, this is a lot of food here but before I dig in lou is gonna help me out. He's the owner of the Bushwick Diner, Louie. Tell me what makes this plate of food so special. Well, this plate consists of all the items that people love to have for breakfast, starting with bacon. Obviously really loves bacon ham sausage, beautiful scrambled eggs and of course fluffy pancakes. Who can't have pancakes for breakfast? Pancakes are a must. And you said there's one way we gotta eat them, right? You gotta eat them with real maple syrup that we're gonna pour all over these pancakes. All right. I wanna take a, I'm gonna dig in here and as we're doing that, so we're gonna take a nice bite right now, gonna indulge in this and then afterwards we're heading over to Metro Metro Rock in Bushwick to work off everything we're indulging right now. On 12 and we have been on your block in Bushwick all morning. Yeah. News 12. Ju Joseph joins us. Now at Metro Rock, Julia, you already had a full breakfast today. So now you're prepared to climb and get some exercise. Is that right? Uh Yeah, guys. That's right. I'm honestly really full from the Bush diner, but stick with me. Here, Eve is here. We're at Metro Rock and she's gonna be teaching me how to climb today. Eve. Tell me what Metro Rock is all about. Yes. So we opened in August of 2018. Uh We have shorter walls. We have taller walls, they're up to 50 ft high. We offer day passes which are drop in friendly, no appointments required. We have memberships, youth programs and community days throughout the week. Fantastic and community days you mentioned you guys have one coming up, right? Yeah, today's queers for climbing. So it's $20 a day pass with rental year included for any member of the queer community. That's incredible. And what's your favorite part about Metro Rock? I think it's always challenging yourself to get a little bit higher. I love that. I love that. Well, guys, listen, Metro Rock is the place to be if you want to get that full feeling of adventure here in Bushwick for now, that's the latest after this, we're gonna be heading over to Bushwick Collective. Block this summer on 12, we've been there all morning. If you've seen us already. Now, we're checking out the local street art scene. Julia Joseph is out there and it looks really cool. Julia, what are you showing us here? Well, you know, guys, it's colorful, it's vibrant. It's the Bushwick Collective and I've run into the founder, Joe. Joe. Tell me about the inspiration for these murals 13 years ago, I lost my mother to brain cancer and I'm born and raised here. So it was the first mother's day without her. So I created a place for me to get away originally without actually leaving my own neighborhood and show us here for the viewers. Can you kind of explain these colorful sites we see here? This specific mural is done from tips from Brazil. His trademark is the big years to remind us that although we grow old, we don't have to grow up. I love that so much. And you said the goal he is to get lost in the murals. You're kind of ahead of me now, getting lost. But this is what we're going to do. We're going to go get lost in these murals and try to find a snack along the way. That's what I'm here. So maybe I'll bring you back. One guy stick with us for the 1230. We're going to be sending you straight here from another bakery.

We have been on your block all morning long and to close off the day news. 12 Julia Joseph is that Cheer Coast a staple and Bush and Julia. Those cookies you have, they look mouthwatering delicious. Can you guys smell the pastries through the camera? Because this is very taunting right now. I'm here with Anthony, one of the owners of Cher's Pastry shop. Anthony. Give me the back story on this family business of yours. Uh This uh this bakery has been here since 1945 and it is super important to us to keep the traditions alive, the Sicilian taste and uh we bring it to you through cannolis, our rainbow cookies, all our sweets. Um We've been one of the oldest on Knick area Avenue for we're gonna be making 80 years this year. That's amazing. 80 years. And you say the oldest, I mean when you look around here, it, it gives you that vintage old school feel. How do you guys keep that alive? Uh It's very important to us to keep the the feel of the old school bakery. Remember when you were a kid kind of feel when you walk in here and it's even more important to us that our recipes don't change and it tastes the same when you get home, you eat it. You're like, oh my God just brought me back to the childhood. And these are sometimes 78 year old people saying this to us. It's a great, great feeling. That must feel so amazing. No, you're serving this community and you said you got to taste it. So we've been on your block all day guys. So to end it, we got to end with a sweet treat. I try a Brooklyn Bushwick cannoli right off a nick. Here we go. Hold on, let me make it a little sweeter for you. Powdered sugar. That's the best. OK. Mhm. Delicious. Awesome. Talk to you guys.
