Strong to damaging wind has ravaged the borough over the last 24 hours with peak gusts between 40-50 mph. Large breaking waves between 7 and 9 feet battered our coast, with widespread coastal flooding. Between an inch and two inches of rain has fallen. All of this will gradually improve over the next 24 hours.
The overnight will see the slow tapering of the rain. The wind will be lesser, more in the 20-35 mph range, but still gusting and noticeable. The waves will slowly get better as well.
Tuesday will offer additional improvements, and a damp-feeling morning but mostly dry day. It will take time for the wind and the waves to completely calm down but Wednesday will be a complete turnaround for our weather. It will be sunny, a bit breezy, dry, and quite pleasant.
Nicer weather will last throughout the rest of the work and school week. Temperatures will be in the higher 50s and lower to mid-60s. We can expect sunshine and no rain. The first half of the weekend will be enjoyable as well.
