WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- After a cold start Thursday with lows near 40 degrees and feel-like temperatures in the 30s, it will not be as cold for Friday morning.
- The breezy conditions will also taper overnight.
- Temperatures will start around 47 degrees and rise close to 70 by the afternoon.
- Friday will be the first day above average since last weekend.
- Lots of sunshine will continue. The sunny and warmer weather will only grow into the weekend with highs well into the 70s by Sunday.
- No rain is expected through at least Wednesday night, which could make this one of the longest dry stretches on record.
- As of Thursday night, there have been 18 straight days without measurable rain. This is the longest streak since October 2017, and based on the current forecast, is expected to reach at least 24 days, which would make it the driest stretch of weather in New York City since 1995.
- The warmth peaks early next week with highs on either side of 80 degrees on Monday and Tuesday.
- It does turn colder by the end of next week, but not as cold as how the last few days have been.
