Here’s what you need to know:
- No advisories at this time.
- It’s chilly, mostly clear and calm this morning with temperatures in the mid to upper 40s.
- Today will be a tad cooler with sunshine and lighter winds. Highs are in the upper 50s. Fire danger is still slightly elevated today.
- It stays dry through Wednesday with cooler temperatures in the 50s and calm winds. Fire danger subsides through Friday thanks to the chance of rain.
- Some much-needed rain arrives overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. Timing is likely after midnight through 10 a.m. on Thursday. Moderate to heavy rain and breezy conditions will bring messy conditions to the Thursday morning commute. Ponding, minor flooding in poor drainage and low-lying areas and slick roads from the fallen leaves and oils from vehicles will bring tricky travel conditions. This will help saturate the ground, help with the ongoing drought and alleviate fire concerns for at least a week. Some wraparound rain lingers into Friday and early Saturday morning as the storm system moves out. A cold blast of air with gusty winds arrives Thursday into Friday. Over an inch of rain will be possible through early Saturday. Unfortunately, it's not enough rainfall to put us out of the drought, but any rain that we receive is beneficial. We'll need several impactful rain events to help take us out of the severe drought. Stay tuned for the latest drought monitor update this Thursday.
