The Open Streets program is back for 2021, but a Brooklyn neighborhood is questioning the city's role in funding it.
The Sunset Park Business Improvement District hopes the city will help fund the program as it hasn't offered monetary assistance. The BID started a GoFundMe and have raised more than $6K in two weeks.
Beginning on May 1, 5th Avenue in Sunset Park will have outdoor dining and shopping space for restaurants and retail shops. The BID's goal is to hold the event for 27 weekends, from May 1 to Oct. 30.
