A Sunset Park man says he has a new take on life, thanks to his four-legged friend and guide dog which helps him navigate daily life.
Jose Gil, 32, who has a condition called retinitis pigmentosa, says he felt trapped for years, but his guide dog Josette has opened his eyes to a world of opportunity.
Before Gil met the German shepherd, he says life was tough, especially as his condition worsened back in 2017.
He met Josette last year through nonprofit Guiding Eyes for the Blind, which provides guide dogs to people with vision loss.
The pair recently graduated, and he says it's been a success ever since.
Gil says Josette is full of personality, helping him to tackle one obstacle at a time.
