Father Ruskin Piedra accepted the $11,093 check from acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, restoring what was stolen by Nancy Robayo and her daughter, Elisa Lascano.
The two former employees of the Juan Neumann Center were convicted last year of stealing the money from at least five clients who went to the center to get low-cost immigration services.
Gonzalez says Robayo pleaded guilty to a felony charge in exchange for probation. Her daughter pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for community service. The two also agreed to pay back the money that they were convicted of taking.
Piedra says the center has installed cameras to deter future theft.
