SUNY Maritime College students set sail for semester at sea for first time in 2 years

Students are required to spend over 300 days at sea to get a maritime license, which allows them to work aboard commercial ships.

A long-honored tradition came back to SUNY Maritime thanks to vaccination efforts from SOMOS. 
On Tuesday, for the first time in two years, cadets at SUNY Maritime College set sail for a monthslong cruise. 
Students are required to spend over 300 days at sea to get a maritime license, which allows them to work aboard commercial ships. 
News 12’s Noelle Lilley saw students off today as they set sail for their semester at sea.
