Data shows that the most purchased candy overall is Reese's Cups, M&Ms and Hot Tamales.
In New York, Sour Patch Kids came in first, followed by Hot Tamales and Candy Corn.
In New Jersey, the No. 1 candy choice was Tootsie Pops, followed by M&Ms and Skittles.
Connecticut's first choice in candy is Almond Joy, followed by Milky Way and M&Ms.

The National Retail Federation says Americans are expected to spend $3.6 billion on Halloween candy this year.
